■6月14日ＴＢＳで放送通訳を務める卒業生が来校！
本格的に通訳・翻訳者を目指す専門・短大・大卒以上を対象とした1年制の英語上級専科 通訳・翻訳専攻。卒業生はスキルアップ・キャリアアップをしてそれぞれに活躍されています。その中の一人、1995年に通訳翻訳専攻を卒業した服部史子さんが、来校してくれました。今現在のエキサイティングなお仕事について英語でメッセージをくれました！
 In addition to my full-time Japanese-English translation job at an economic/financial news agency, I do English voice-overs for cable and Internet broadcasters, and also translator for Tokyo Broadcasting System’s (TBS) "The Evening News." The range of news a translator might handle for one program is unpredictable; politics, crimes, accidents/disasters/economics/finance, weather, foreign affairs, sport, culture, science, lawsuits and on and on. Switching into the right mindset under intense time pressure is a challenge I enjoy- I might have several long minutes on a monkey story to even slip in a couple of jokes, and the next moment, I might be racing to beat deadline just seconds away for a piece on six-way talks on the North Korean nuclear issue. On top of this, the style for Japanese news, English wire and broadcast news differs. Therefore, I rely immensely on the diversity of my pool of resources that I started to build at JCFL. |
